A Palworld base only feels automated when ore, wood, and food move without you babysitting every bench. The 1.0 work suitability rework makes job levels matter more, so the right early Pals and layout beat a bigger Palbox every time.

Best early automation Pals
| Job | Starter pick | Why |
| Handiwork | Tanzee | Cheap capture, multiple L1 jobs, great filler |
| Lumbering | Lifmunk / Tanzee | Keeps wood flowing for spheres and base upgrades |
| Transporting | Cattiva / Chikipi | Moves ore and wood to chests if paths are short |
| Kindling | Foxparks | Early fire for smelting and cooking |
| Watering | Teafant | Keeps ranch crops alive while you explore |
Filter by work type in the Paldeck before you release a Pal you think is "useless."
Feed Box and bed placement
- Put Feed Boxes central to work zones, not tucked behind walls Pals cannot path around.
- Beds within a few tiles of the jobs you assign. Long walks eat SAN and stall production.
- Leave one-wide corridors. Pathing bugs still happen when bases get too dense too fast.
- Kindling + Watering once you add a Ranch or plantation.
- Mining once stone and ore pits are far from the Palbox.
- Medicine after you unlock clinics and start running higher SAN jobs.
