10 Early Game Tips Every New Player Should Know

Ten early Palworld tips: Handiwork pals, Ranch setup, Feed Box placement, capture power, and MyPalworld tools to filter work and drops.

Your first 10โ€“20 hours in Palworld set the tone for everything after โ€” base chores, capture rate, and how fast you unlock breeding. These ten tips focus on work suitability, base layout, and tools on MyPalworld so you spend less time babysitting Pals and more time exploring.

Quick summary

  • Put Handiwork Pals on base duty before you chase combat stats.
  • Build a Ranch and Feed Box early; hungry Pals stop working.
  • Use the Paldeck to filter by work type instead of guessing.

1. Catch a Handiwork Pal first

Cattiva and Lifmunk show up near the starting area and both bring Handiwork to your base. That covers crafting, repairs, and moving items between stations โ€” the stuff that stalls progression when nobody is on the bench.

Tip: Keep one Handiwork Pal in your party until your base has two or three workers. Swap the rest into the Palbox for base-only duty.

Browse Handiwork pals in the Paldeck and sort or filter by work suitability.

2. Build a Ranch before fancy automation

Ranch Pals passively drop items (wool, eggs, milk, etc.) while assigned. It is slower than manual farming but runs while you explore. Pair a Ranch with a Transporting Pal so drops actually reach your chests.

3. Place Feed Boxes where workers path

Pals eat from the nearest Feed Box. If it is behind a wall or on another floor, they idle, lose SAN, and stop working. Put boxes central to work stations, not tucked in a corner you never visit.

4. Always keep Transporting in the mix

Transporting suitability moves goods between stations and storage. Without it, ore sits at the mine and your furnace starves. Check the Paldeck for pals with Transporting level 1 or higher.

5. Unlock Statues of Power for capture boost

Lifmunk Effigies at Statues of Power raise your capture power.[1] Higher capture rate means fewer wasted spheres on low-HP catches โ€” huge in early game when materials are tight.

6. Capture duplicates on purpose

One Pal in your party, two or three on base, one in a Ranch โ€” duplicates are a feature, not a mistake. You are building a work roster, not a single perfect team on day one.

7. Filter the Paldeck by drops and work

Need Electric Organ for spheres? Filter items in the Items database to see which pals drop them, then jump to their Paldeck entries. Same for ranch drops and element types.

8. Do not sleep on Chillet as a mount

Chillet is an early Dual-type mount (Ice / Dragon) that makes traversal and early fights easier. It is not just cute โ€” it is practical for the first biome hops.

9. Mark breeding for later โ€” but plan the ranch now

Breeding unlocks mid progression. You do not need it hour one, but you do need cake ingredients and a Breeding Farm site with space. When you are ready, use the Breeding Calculator instead of trial-and-error pairs.

10. Learn type basics before tower fights

Palworld uses a fixed elemental chart. Bringing the wrong element into a tower fight doubles your healing bill. See our type chart reference and pal detail pages for each pal's types.
